Traveling is something I have always been big on. I don't share my dreams to much but defiantly have them. It started out I wanted to do photography a few years back but was really scared. Then finally I took the courses with my little bridge camera (I upgraded thank the lord haha). I begged my friends and sister and anyone who was in front of me to PLEASE be my models (memories for sure!) Before I realized it, I was photographing families, dogs, couples until I did my first wedding. After that I knew a few things, I had to stop using my aunt's canon rebel and buy my own. At that time I was working as a full time server at Fatz while working full time at the dermatologist office. I went out and bought MY VERY OWN Canon 60D and a new lens and a Apple desktop. Y'all when I say I was excited that's an understatement!! After that I really put myself out there and taught myself how to run a website, again saved up money to hire a graphic designer to make my brand, made my own business cards, second shot with other photographers, received positive and negative feedback (that's the hard part but it helped me grow as a person) and then FINALLLLYYYYY bought my new Canon Mark iii 5D with a brand new lens. It only took me so many years but I always look my old camera and think back how far I have come. So with that being said I started a bucket list of GOALS & DREAMS when I first started my business.
Travel outside of Lexington, South Carolina for a wedding (checked off!!)
Photograph a wedding at the Biltmore (PRAISE, IT HAPPENED!!)
Keep my business alive for more than one year (check! going 4 years strong!!)
Now I would love to travel and photograph a wedding or anniversary session in these locations:
- Savannah, GA
- Austin, Tx
Y'all, I can keep going and going. I would not be where I am though if it wasn't for everyone! This would be A DREAM come true! If you're a bride planning a wedding that goes with these dreams, please reach out!! There could be a discount or incentive with your name on it!
Let me start off by saying I've known this girl for sometime now. We use to cheer with each other for White Knoll and walked through that journey together. Years later we reconnected after she booked me for her spring wedding! Funny how things work out when you go from talking and hanging out all the time to sitting down for coffee 7 years later going over wedding details and catching up on life. When I asked Rachael what style she was looking for when it came to her bridals all she could think about was "the notebook" look! Thankfully the Lord looked out for me and I had just did a family session at this property three weeks back and they let us use everything for her pictures (shout out to the Brittain family for being so AMAZING and KIND to us) Everything about that day was beautiful!
FINALLY! I can share with everyone this sweet girl's bridal portraits we did back a few months back. Remember guys when we would have a warm day and then it may or may not have rained and you weren't sure? Well the bottom fell out on us up until five minutes before we started and goodness were we hot! Thanks South Carolina for your crazy weather but that's okay because we nailed this shoot! I love doing bridals because you really get to know the bride as a person and put aside all the wedding craziness and enjoy them "feeling like the bride" for once. During this session I really got to know Katie's mom, Mrs. Darla who was so funny and sweet the entire time and helped me OUT SO MUCH with small details (a towel under the dress, carrying items around and making sure Katie and I were not going to pass out from the heat) So ladies, whoever comes with you on portrait day make sure to thank them because they make pictures like these happen! Really though Katie is such a sweet and beautiful soul and I could not have been happier to be apart of her journey!
Want to know what goes on in the world of a wedding photographer? Well here is a glimpse of what it is! It's this exciting feeling you get opening up an email from your future bride and groom and getting to read about who they are even before you meet them. It's the moment you sit down with the couple and they say YES! to you being the one capturing one of their biggest moments in their life..You get to your first session of many, "the engagement shoot" and that's when you truly see the couple as who they are with one another and it's like they are on their first date again..laughing, being shy, playing around and everything else that comes along with it. That's when you end up with the best pictures..it shows who they are and it's THEM, its why everyone that comes to their wedding comes, because that's how they picture the two. Then it's off to the "bridal shoot" and that is when you learn how the bride fell for her groom. It's the first time she gets to try her dress on after looking for the "right one", it's the moment she realizes that she will be saying "I do" to the man she prayed about. Then finally....THE WEDDING..the moment the bride and groom, their wedding party, the family and myself have been waiting for. One person once asked me "how do you do this, capture every single detail on such a busy day?" Its simple honestly, you have to have this passion and most importantly since I received the couple's email I have been planning since day one! Then it's time to sit down, drink a glass of wine and start working on the pictures. After everything has been looked through and processed it's time to send out the gallery and then send the newly weds "sweet gifts" letting them know that I could not be more thankful for them asking me to grab moments of them that will turn into wonderful memories for years to come. So when it's all said and done and you are looking for the right wedding photographer make sure you find "your person" the one that will make every session you leave feeling happy and excited!
